Crossing the Finish Line!

As athletes approach the final stretch of a race, be it a local 5K or the Boston Marathon, the atmosphere is electric. Crowds cheer, music fills the air, and an announcer calls out the names of those nearing the finish line. This experience should be accessible to everyone.   For the able-bodied the limitation is the will to complete the race, for the impaired it is a challenge to get to the start line.

Since opening in 2014, Ridgefield Running Company has welcomed people of all abilities, paces, and levels of running and walking experience. Our mission, encapsulated in the motto "Forward Together," is reflected in everything we do. We provide proper gear fittings, host community events and runs, and offer a space for everyone to learn about the joys of movement.

Now, celebrating our 10th anniversary, we are hosting community events that cater to seasoned runners, newcomers, and those who have yet to explore running or walking. As part of this celebration, we partnered with Asics to donate an Ainsley’s Angels Chair to The Prospector Theater. (The Prospector Theater is a non-profit providing competitive and inclusive employment for people with disabilities through the operation of a first-run movie theater). This special chair allows individuals with special needs to participate in running events, join school field days, or simply enjoy a run up Main Street.

The chair's inaugural race took place at our annual Run Like a Mother 5K on Mother’s Day. Cece Harrington participated in her first-ever race, with team member Gabby Viggiano pushing the chair. Cece had an incredible time and is already looking forward to her next race.
